L5P fuel filter failure. After being down for weeks I finally took off on another haul yesterday and almost made it 100 miles. Pulled over and shut the truck off. Came back out and all it would do is crank. No start. Tried a few things that didn’t work then dropped the new GM fuel filter for a look.Haha! The only reason I am considering it is because I found a complete brand new oem L5P engine for about $10k. I assume that most of the weaknesses of the LML have been fixed with the L5P too. Like. This VSE unit IMO is best since there is filtration AFTER the WIF sensor. Single filter L5P aftermarket units the WIF sensor is on the 'clean' side of the filter....if the water light comes on then it's too late. Go do your research! The L5P has new heads on it that flow much better and a new fuel injection system but the main engine is mainly the same. Main and oil cooling were increased to deal with the extra power. It is a great engine, most Duramax are but it is let down by choking emissions and warranty issues.

My '18 has 18,300 on it and I was getting codes P0106 for "manifold absolute pressure" followed shortly there after by an unclearable P00C7. L5P TMAP sensor is both temp and pressure.I would never consider a LML after owning a L5P. $1500 to delete a Cummins or LML. $7,000 to delete an L5P. $3,000 to convert from a CP4 to CP3 on the LML. $700+ to level the GMC/Chevy compared to $100 to level the Ram. Easy enough, but for anyone doing it, don’t take the shield with the housing. All you need to do are the two 13mm bolts at the back, top/side. You’ll understand when you look at it.I would never consider a LML after owning a L5P. $1500 to delete a Cummins or LML. $7,000 to delete an L5P. $3,000 to convert from a CP4 to CP3 on the LML. $700+ to level the GMC/Chevy compared to $100 to level the Ram. The filter on the 2019 L5D is the smaller filter just like the 2020 L5P and it takes 10 qts. as well.
