Simplisafe keypad not working.

If the Pin Pad backlight does work could you please let me know if you need to press a key first or does it have a proximity sensor so when you put your hand near the Pin Pad does it turn on the backlight. The Pin Pad keys are impossible to see when it is dark and Simplisafe advertises the lighted Pin Pad as a feature on their website. Thanks

I just received my Simplisafe system and am trying to get it installed. I plugged in the base station and that turned on just fine. Turned on the keypad, but it will not connect to the base station. I've tried removing the batteries from both the keypad and the base station but it still will not connect.But the solution in this post DID work.
